Hi everyone! So I thought I'd continue on with the chapter teasers of Traffic Jam. The following is from chapter 2---happy reading!
Chapter 2 Teaser:
Allison
shook her head then said, “Okay, okay, before I forget. I saw a friend of Sam’s
on the way over here.”
Val
raised her eyebrows expectantly. Instead of answering, Allison simply stared at
her, a slow smile creeping across her face. The sight of it made Val fidget.
“Okay,
so you want me to guess or—”
“John.”
“God,
Allison,” Val groaned.
She
dropped her head forward until it rested on the fence. A wave of heat crawled
up the back of her neck.
“What?”
Allison laughed. “I’m just telling you who I saw.”
Val
sighed then looked over her shoulder. “You know that’s how rumors start.”
“Yeah
but it would be the best kind of
rumor.”
“I
didn’t know there was a best kind.”
“Sure
there is. The kind that is so fantastic, no
one believes it.”
“No
one but you,” Val rolled her eyes.
“And
you.”
“It’s
not true anyway.”
“Dude,
don’t even try it,” Allison smirked. “Your head’s always on the brink of
catching fire whenever his name is mentioned.”
“That’s
because he’s creepy.”
“Oh
sure.” Allison’s eyes sparkled with amusement.
“And
he’s too quiet,” Val insisted, knowing it wouldn’t do her much good.
“Uh
huh.”
“You
know it’s the quiet ones you’ve got to watch out for.”
“Right.”
“Allison,
I do not like him.”
Allison
grinned. “Yes, you do. When are you going to stop being in denial?”
Val
looked away, picking at the fence with her nail. Allison had been after her for
nearly a year to nut up and say something to the guy. Say something, anything,
write him a note, sing him a song, wax poetic, anything to get Val to finally act on the stars that appeared in
her eyes every time John was around. And he was around quite often, being one
of Sam’s best friends and all, only Val normally spent that time closed up in her
room.
